Proverbs 8, Pentecost 1B
Theme: Wisdom
Winter has finally finished with us, and we are now experiencing the first few days of almost 90-degree weather. However, for those who get up early, before the Sun’s heat bites into the atmosphere, there is still a chill in the air. Some mornings, a mist clings to the ground and ponds. The birds are calling out to their mates. It’s a time all of us should endeavor to experience before the heat of summer takes over even that. Get up, put on some walking shoes and with a hot cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, take a walk. Soak in the beauty of God’s creation. Say a prayer of thanksgiving for all your bountiful blessings.
Meditation is a very important part of life. It is how we humans internalize what we have experienced. Sometimes it is the painful loss of a cherished friend, sometimes it is the elation of accomplishment, or perhaps recalling a loved one’s hug. Either way you will emerge fulfilled. More important, it is the beginning of wisdom.
Come worship with us in one of our services at First Christian Church in Warrensburg where we will contemplate the words of wisdom which come from the Old Testament book of Proverbs.
