“Forgive and Forget”

Luke 15:1-3, 11b-32

Lent 4C Sunday, March 30th, 2025

What is the message about? . . .

Did the father figure in your life ever seem angry or resentful? Did he seem to keep a tally and remind of you every flaw, offense or mistake? Or maybe he was not like that at all. Perhaps he was the forgive and forget type, who never brought up your mistakes. Chances are the truth is somewhere in between. Jesus tells a rich story in Lukes’s gospel with a deep spiritual lesson. This was in response to the Pharisees objection to the marginalized people that Jesus had around him. Many of them had violated religious law. They were spiritually unclean. Why would Jesus break bread with them? Is there anything new or interesting to learn about the story of a reckless and wasteful son? Let’s look a little deeper this Sunday. See you there!
