Luke 13:31-35

What is the message about? . . .
Jesus makes clear in this scripture that even though his ministry of teaching, feeding and healing, and connecting people to God is divinely powerful, it is not in step with the earthly powers that be. He knows that the closer he comes to the center of their power, the higher the danger is for them to take his life. He makes clear, however, that he will not allow fear to deter him from his mission. There is a warning here that if we become comfortable with earthly centers of power, we may not be following in his footsteps. It may be that manifesting his ministry and teachings will draw the attention and enmity of the powerful. But in the end, we can act courageously. We are under the wing of his protection. What does it mean to follow Christ and be taken under his wing? Let’s follow up on this subject a bit more on Sunday. See you there!
