“The Baptism of Jesus”

Luke 3:15-17, 21-22

Epiphany 1C, January 12th, 2024

What is the message about? . . .

As followers and Disciples of Christ, we are called to walk in his footsteps and do the things that he did. Love God and one another. Work for the good of others without expectation of return. Share the love and forgiveness of God with others. One of the physical pieces of his ministry that we can imitate is to be baptized. There is ample scriptural basis for baptism in our Christian beliefs, and it is one of our most revered sacraments. It’s also something that we can do to imitate Jesus. The story of his baptism is in our Gospel reading for Sunday. Consider how we and other religions use water as a powerful symbol of purification, conversion, and divine connection. Let us talk more about baptism this Sunday. See you there!
