“The Rich and the Dead“

Luke 16:19-31

Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost, September 28th, 2025

What is the message about?...

In Luke, Jesus tells the story of a poor man longing for relief just outside the gates of a man who lived in comfort.  The parable is a powerful call to see those who are hurting—especially the poor—and to recognize how our faith comes alive when we respond with compassion.  In our own world, poverty too often goes unnoticed or even punished, yet suffering takes many forms all around us.  Jesus invites us to open our eyes and hearts, not only to the struggles of the poor, but also to the pain that weighs on neighbors, friends, and strangers alike.  This Sunday we’ll reflect together on what it means to live as people of faith who notice, care, and act.  How might God be asking us to see differently, and to love more deeply, right where we are?
